NOAA-22 and NOAA-23 VIIRS Support

The spectral response functions for NOAA-22 (J4) and NOAA-21 (J3) are available from NOAA/NESDIS. Can RTTOV support them? Thanks

Hi,

Yes, we can generate these RTTOV coefficients. I assume JPSS-3 will fly as NOAA-23?

We will use the SRF data here:
https://ncc.nesdis.noaa.gov/j4/J4VIIRS_SpectralResponseFunctions.php

J4 will launch first and that will be NOAA-23 followed by J3 which should be NOAA-24. J4 is launching first since it has a CERES-like broadband radiometer that is in demand for continuity.

Thanks Andy: from various sources (including NOAA) I think J4 will fly as NOAA-22 and J3 will be NOAA-23. We will generate the coefficients and I’ll post here when they are available to download.

Hi Andy,

I’d like to ask you a couple of questions regarding your request.

– Could you provide central wavelengths and correction bands (also called Planck coefficients) for the IR channels that will be used in the Level1 processing ?

– What’s the difference between “Detector RSR” and “BA RSR” ? Do we still need to use the “BA RSR” to generate the coefficients as for JPSS_1 and JPSS_2 ?
