One of the Metop-C AMSU-A antennas (the one that services channels 3, 4, 5 and 8) has developed antenna position errors that are sometimes exceeding the tolerances specified in AAPP. We have sometimes seen this in other AMSU-A instruments, especially older ones. I have posted an updated amsua_clparams.dat on the web site, at https://nwp-saf.eumetsat.int/downloads/aapp_data_files/atovs_cal_files/, with the tolerance increased from 0.33 to 0.5 degrees at line 1934.

The errors are largest in north polar regions, for reasons that are unclear.

We recommend that you update the amsua_clparams.dat file in your installation, either manually or using the script get_atovs_cal_files.sh (available in the same location).

    Regards,

    Nigel
