How do I simulate spectra in 1300-1400 cm-1 for SO2 gas. I change the concentration of the SO2 in the atmospere column, but the simulated spectra does not change.

    Hi Andrey,

You must use an optical depth coefficient file (“rtcoef” file) that supports variable SO2. For RTTOV v13, these are indicated by having “7gas” in the filename indicating that they allow all 7 variable gases currently supported by RTTOV to vary. I would also recommend using the v13predictor file, rather than the older v9 predictors for variable SO2 simulations.

If this does not help let me know, and we can investigate further.

    Best wishes,
    James

PS I forgot to add that you must also set the opts%rt_all%so2_data option flag to true to tell RTTOV that you are passing SO2 profiles in, otherwise RTTOV will use a fixed background profile instead.
