Nigel AtkinsonModeratorYou will be aware that Metop-C launched successfully on 7th November. Some instruments have already been turned on (including AMSU-A and the AVHRR visible channels).
The intention is that AAPP v8.3 will be released in the next few days, and this will include support for Metop-C.
But if you would like to process the early data using an existing version of AAPP, it should be sufficient to download and install updated versions of the various data files. I have posted these on the ftp site at ftp://ftp.eumetsat.int/pub/NWPSAF/aapp_data_files/atovs_cal_files/. You can either download the files individually or you can download and run the script get_atovs_cal_files.sh, which will download all the data files and place them in the correct directories for you.
Note that Metop-C orbital elements are available in the usual place at http://oiswww.eumetsat.org/metopTLEs/html/index.htm.

Nigel AtkinsonModeratorEUMETSAT have derived some new values for the Metop-C AVHRR navigation adjustments. You can modify your satid.txt file as follows (this file is in AAPP/data/navigation and AAPP/src/tools/libsatid):
Line 1869 (scan step):
0.0, 34.0, 0.053988, 1024.5, 166.666667, 2048, scanning function parametersLine 1873 to 1874 (yaw, roll, pitch):
-0.1922, +0.2196, -0.1378 misalignment angles parameters (degrees) 10,10,10 unit conversion (degrees to radians)Or you can download the updated file from ftp://ftp.eumetsat.int/pub/NWPSAF/aapp_data_files/atovs_cal_files/

Nigel AtkinsonModeratorAMSU-A channel 3 space counts have been rising, and exceeded the upper limit around 18th March, resulting in no calibration for channel 3 for direct broadcast processing. To fix it, please update your amsua_clparams.dat file, using this one:
ftp://ftp.eumetsat.int/pub/NWPSAF/aapp_data_files/atovs_cal_files/amsua_clparams.dat
It goes in AAPP/src/calibration/libamsuacl and AAPP/data/calibration/coef/amsua
