Hello,
I am having trouble processing data from noaa 18 and noaa 19 – the data from AVHRR is processing correctly, but the rest of the instruments are failing with an “atovin” error – hopefully this is the correct forum to ask this question.AVHRR:

August 21, 2017 at 8:25 am #10891Nigel AtkinsonModeratorDear Jay,
I don’t see anything obviously wrong. When I ran the same commands, with your input file, it processed correctly. A few questions:
What system are you running on? (e.g. Linux?)
What do you see in your atovin.log file?
What files do you see in your working directory, after attempting to run the processing? (do a ls -l).
Could you try it with just one instrument e.g.
AAPP_RUN_NOAA -Y 2017 -D -i AMSU-A ./n19.17229.2344.raw.hrpt
(or MHS, or HIRS)For future reference, we would recommend to submit questions like this as a Helpdesk ticket, then it will logged in the Helpdesk tracking system.
Regards,
Nigel

[jcable@spam test]$ lsb_release -a LSB Version: :base-4.0-amd64:base-4.0-noarch:core-4.0-amd64:core-4.0-noarch:graphics-4.0-amd64:graphics-4.0-noarch:printing-4.0-amd64:printing-4.0-noarch Distributor ID: CentOS Description: CentOS release 6.8 (Final) Release: 6.8 Codename: Final
Here is the run with just AMSU-A:
[jcable@spam test]$ AAPP_RUN_NOAA -Y 2017 -D -i AMSU-A -o /home/jcable/test/out /home/jcable/test/in/n19.17229.2344.raw.hrpt > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : start of processing /home/jcable/test/in/n19.17229.2344.raw.hrpt BUL = tle > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 14018 tleing INFO : noaa19 > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Satellite = noaa19 > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Date = 20170817 > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Hour = 2344 > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Orbit = 43912 > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : A/TOVS = ATOVS > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Working directory is /home/jcable/test/tmp > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : decom ATOVS parameter file = decommutation.par > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Running amsuacl BUL = tle /opt/aapp/AAPP/orbelems/satpos/satpos_noaa19_20170817.txt > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA INFO : Running atovin atovin script params AMSU-A *** Error 146 in atovin.exe *** Input file: read AMSU-A > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA ERROR : atovin failed > 2017/08/22 09:22:55 spam.gina.alaska.edu 13989 AAPP_RUN_NOAA
And this is what is left after the run:
[jcable@spam test]$ ls out tmp out: tmp: aman.l1b aman.l1c ambn.l1c amsuacl.log atovin.log decommutation.log decommutation.par hrsn.l1c msun.l1c
And the atovin.log contains:
[jcable@spam test]$ cat tmp/atovin.log ************************************************ *** Module ATOVIN $Date: 2005/04/15 13:40:02 $ ************************************************ !! ErrorReport: FATAL ERROR 5010 in module INFDF Reading NESDIS sat id etc., 0
If you need the atovin.log file as there appears to be chunk of binary data in it, it is available here:
http://hippy.gina.alaska.edu/distro/atovin.log.bz2I am sure I am doing something wrong, thanks for the help!
Next time I will file a support ticket, thanks for pointing that out.

August 22, 2017 at 11:34 pm #10894AnonymousInactiveI re-installed my copy of AAPP, and it is now processing again. I guess some of the ancillary files must have gotten corrupted. Anyway, sorry for the trouble, and thanks for the help.
