    Hello,

    I am using RTTOV v13.

I have a question about the AMSU-A SRF coefficient.
vi For ATMS, there are rtcoeff based on measured SRFs for each plotform (jpss_0_atms_srf, noaa_20_atms_srf).
But for AMSU-A, there is only the rtcoeff based on measured SRFs for the NOAA-19 platform.

    My question is,
Can I simply copy the NOAA-19 AMSU-A rtcoeff based on measured SRFs to use for other platforms? Or would it be better to use rtcoeff based on top-hat (box-car) pass bands for other platforms (metop-1, -2, -3, noaa-18, -15)?

    Hi,

The SRFs are specific to each individual instrument (i.e., each sensor on a specific platform), so you should not use the NOAA-19 AMSU-A SRF-based coefficient file for AMSU-A on any other platform.

We are not currently aware of measured SRFs for any other AMSU-A instruments so there are only top-hat coefficients for the other platforms.

    Best wishes,
    James
