It has been discovered that the Metop-C AMSU-A1 antenna position check is failing at earth position position 30. This is a common problem with the AMSU-A instruments: the antenna position check becomes less accurate as the instrument ages. (For NOAA-15 we had to disable the check completely, even though the antenna continues to rotate OK).

A new version of the amsua_clparams.dat file has been posted at https://nwp-saf.eumetsat.int/downloads/aapp_data_files/atovs_cal_files/. The tolerance has been increased from 0.33 to 0.55 degrees. As usual, you can install the new file either by downloading and running get_atovs_cal_files.sh, which is in the same directory, or by downloading the amsua_clparams.dat manually and putting it in $AAPP_PREFIX/AAPP/data/calibration/coef/amsua.

    Regards,

    Nigel
