README file for MSG-4 SEVIRI filter functions
Dec 2014

Reference file: MSG_SEVIRI_Spectral_Response_Characterisation.XLS
this file is available from the following web page:
      http://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/Data/Products/Calibration/MSGCalibration/index.html?lang=EN
issue 2 on 30/10/2012 by GEO/GF: Inclusion of MSG-4 spectral data
   internal Eumetsat reference: MSG-MMT-SE-TN-3325

The spectral response function of the HRV channel is taken from the extended range.
The IR channels spectral response functions are taken from the 95K instrument temperature

Excel sheets are converted to ASCII text files
Wavelenghts are converted to wavenumbers
All original values are kept, except for HRV where values below 392 nanometers are removed
this is requested for LBLRTM runs and has very minor no impact as the values are very small
  Removed values 390nm: 0.07, 384nm: 0.037, 378nm: 0.009 and (10^-13) below 372 nm

For IR channels, the central frequencies and band corrections are given by the EUMETSAT document
The conversion from effective radiances to equivalent brightness temperatures
  PDF_EFFECT_RAD_TO_BRIGHTNESS.pdf (EUM/MET/TEN/11/0569 version 1; 5 Oct 2012)
