AIRS, the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder, is a high spectral resolution, cross-track infrared sounder. It is mounted on the Aqua satellite, which was launched 4 May 2002. It has 2378 channels measuring the range 3.75 to 15.4 microns. 324 of these channels are stored in a database at the Met Office (the MetDB) for use in data assimilation.
These results are considered experimental. The Met Office accepts no responsibility for actions taken on the basis of these results. |
